Russian state TV branded London 2012 an ‘Olympic PR stunt fest’ and, on his blog, Claremont’s Simon Francis has been keeping a watch on good and bad Olympic PR. Here are his five favourites:
Quote of the Games: “This is my country, mate”, Mo Farah in response to Daily Mail criticisms of his origins.
Tweeter of the Games: Colm Quinn, whose quick-witted response to Piers Morgan’s criticism of Bradley Wiggins went viral.
Guerilla campaign of the Games: Should have gone to Specsavers? [pictured above] Organisers from Hampden clearly need to.
PR miracle of the Games: Boris. Zip-wire. A one-man PR miracle.
Campaign of the Games: The media seem to have forgotten the campaign by Team GB cycling champs for safer roads. Let’s hope that this comes back after the Games.
