Contact lenses safety

Over 5 million people in the UK wear contact lenses, but more than one in four are unaware that they should be removed before showering, bathing or swimming[1].

Working for the regulator the General Optical Council, Claremont created ‘Love Your Lenses’ – a versatile campaigning platform that brought together contact lens manufacturers, retailers and health organisations to change contact lens user behaviours in order to reduce infections.

  • Love Your Lenses Week generated 23 items of media coverage, including a BBC feature story shared 6,500 times on Facebook with 2,750 comments
  • 949 retweets and 1,328 mentions of Love Your Lenses Week
  • 42 organisations added their logos to the Love Your Lenses website, 351 used the campaign toolkit
  • Love Your Lenses now being used as a launch pad for targeted behavioural interventions
